THE ANNUAL REPORT (OCTOBER 2003 - SEPTEMBER 2004)

            The Manu Trust had successfully been entering the Second Year (October 2003 to September 2004) with the well-organized and stern aims and objectives to be carried out. The Trust had performed last year certain stupendous activities, which would narrate its history of achievement to the future generation. The activities of the Trust fulfilled run as follows:

  3. Portraits unveiling

  5. Honouring the Villagers
  6. Competitions to the school students
  7. The Manu Library

1. SUMMER COURSE:

            As was done in the year before last year, the Trust had conducted the Summer Course (1.5.2003 to 30.5.2004) on Needhikkovai for the students reading in all classes. Mr. Chidambaram had been the teacher for the course this year too. This course imparted the learners their duties and responsibilities, which would help to shape the fututre India. Besides it would make in them character building. On 30th May 2004, the valedictory function of the course was held under the chairperson, Mr. Subbiah Nadar, the business Magnate in Kariyapatti. The felicitators of the function were Mrs. Boomadevi and        Mr. R.Devadoss, Lion Mr. A.V.Jeyapragash, Mr. M.P.Chinnakaruppan M.D., Patron Mr. G.Durairaj, Mrs. Ponnuthai, Lion D.Srinivasan, Mr. V.Pragash and Patron V.Paluchamy were present at the function. Advocate Mr. K.Rajarajan distributed prizes to the participants of the Summer Course. Welcome address was done by Mr. Chidambaram and the act of giving thanks to the audience by Mr. Muthalagan.

2. PRINTINGS:

            The pamphlets containing moral teachings of great personalities were printed and freely supplied to the learners and the general readers and visitors to the library. The invitations, bills and notices pertaining to the functions and activities of the Manu Library and the Manu Trust were printed. The Needhikkovai was also supplied freely to the participants of the Summer Course held during 1.5.2004 to 30.5.2004. Nearly 1500 books relating to many fields were purchased by the Manu Trust for the Manu Library. The Trust had also bought furniture for it.

 

 
 
 
 

3. TRI-FUNCTION:

            It was on 13th April, 2004, the Tri-Function was celebrated under the chairmanship of Mr. V.Subbiah Nadar. The three celebrations held that day were the World Ladies Day, the honouring Dr.Kamali Gurusamy and the praising of t eh patrons who contributed to the Manu Library Rs.1000/- (one thousand). To felicitate the World Lady’s Day, the Kolam and Rangoli competitions were conducted. Dr.Kamali Gurusamy was honoured by the Trust for his valuable service and retirement. The patrons of the Library were respected and honoured by the Trust adorning with mantling (Ponnadi).  Mr. Paluchamy attened the function as the Chief guest. Mr. Gopalakrishnan welcomed the gathering Mrs. Jeya and Mr. A.Gurusamy, one of the patrons, made the address of the acceptance of the honour conferred on the patrons. Mr. Bhahirathan distributed the prizes to the winners of the Kolam and Rangoli competitions and Mr. Bharathan proposed the vote of thanks.

4. PORTRAITS UNVEILING:

            Two portraits were unveiled at the function. One Photo was Mahatma Gandhi and the other was Mr. S.Duraichamy B.E., Mr. Subbiah Nadar was the president of the function held on 3rd March, 2004 in the presence of Mrs. Sarasathi and Mr. Balasubramanian. Mr. Paluchamy and Mr. S.R.S.Meenakshisundara Nadar, Illuppaiyur unveiled the photographs of Mahatma Gandhi and Mr. S.Duraichamy B.E., respectively. Mr. A.Ramachandran B.E., Mr.R.Kamatchi Nathan B.E., and Mr.G.Durairaj did the part of the felicitation. Mr. Thisai Ramasamy, Mr. Chidambaram and Mr. Bhahirathan did the welcome speech, the acceptance talk and the thanks giving address respectively.

5. HONOURING THE VILLAGERS:

            To encourage the learners, the parents of Kaluvanacheri village who had sent their children to schools were honoured with precious mantles. Their school going children were also awarded prizes. The performers and the artistes of the local cultural activity center were also given presentation. With an idea of utilizing the learned born in villages, the Trust engaged them at the 57th Independence Day celebration, the 15th August, 2004. Mr. G.Durairaj took the chair. Mr. S.G.Naidu, Patron and a Londoner, Chittumoonradaippu, was given the position of unfurling our national flag. Mr. Muthalagan, Mr. Rajendran and Mr. T.Pandian Rtd. B.D.O. were made to felicitate the function. Mr. Chidambaram welcomed the audience and Mr. Chokkalingam proposed the vote of thanks.

6. COMPETITIONS:

            To bring out the latent potentials of the learners the Trust conducted the competitions like essay writing, recitation, elocution, drawing, music and Alphabet writing for them. The learners of Standards I to VII reading in the schools in Kariyapatti and its suburb actively participated in these competitions.

            The prize distribution function was held on 17th October, 2004 at the Subbiah Nadar – Amala Marriage Hall, Kariyapatti under the chair person of Mr. Subbiah Nadar in the presence of Mr. Govindaraj, Mr. Paluchamy and Mr. Bhahirathan. Mr. Chidambaram did the welcome address. Mr. J.Kaliyaraj, Corresspondent, London Krishnamoorthi Matriculation School, Ortha nadu unveiled the portrait of London Krishnamoorthy. Mr. K.Subbiah, pure Tamil Mission, Sivakasi Municipality, Mr. Bilavendran, Mr. Ramamoorthi, Mr. Janab Mohamud Sherif, Dr.P.Chinnakaruppan Ohyilisai Singer, Prof. Dr.Anbumeenal, H.O.D. Tamil Department, Meenakshi College for Women, Madurai also spoke at the function. All the two hundred students of standard II who wrote Tamil Alphabets without any error were awarded prizes by Mr. Bharathan. He was also the thanks given to the audience.

7. THE MANU LIBRARY:

            The Manu Library is the pivot which has three dimensions – utilization fo the learned, utilization to the learned and utilization to the learners. So the library had invited many highly qualified personalities to conduct many functions. It had been very useful to the learned and the learners supplying them books, newspapers, periodicals and journals and reading and writing material. It held many competitions and prized the winners. The Library had organized symposiums, lectures, special address and functions and courses on Ethics. Also the Manu Trust had met some expenses to carry out these activities in addition to the purchase of the essential stationeries to the Manu Library and the Manu Trust as well. The Trust ensures the further development of the library. So it is in need of your financial assistance. The Trust requests you to grant liberal donations to improve its fiscal position.
