THE ANNUAL REPORT (OCTOBER 2002 - SEPTEMBER 2003)

            The Manu Trust is very proud to submit its Annual Report to your esteemed attention. This report has carefully been prepared by Mr. R.Bharathan, a retired official at the Statistical Department in Tamil Nadu. The Period, the report has cover, is from October 2002 - September 2003. Mr. R.Bharathan is the Founder of the Manu Trust. He wanted to serve the human kind in creating awareness in the field of human resource development and sponsored this Trust on 2nd October 2002 with his own financial Commitment. The Trust aims at the utilization of the learned, utilization to the learned and utilization to the learners. The notable performances, the Trust had accomplished successfully last year, are as follows:

  1. Starting the Manu Library
  2. Celebrating Functions
  3. Conducting Competitions to the students.
  4. The Courses on Ethics.
  5. Free supply of reading and writing material to the learners.

1. STARTING THE MANU LIBRARY:

           It was indispensable to have a medium to achieve the aims and objectives of the Manu Trust. So Mr. R.Bharathan started the Manu Library on 15th October 2002 utilizing this Trust Fund and the books donated by some noble hearts mentioned below. The inaugural function of the Manu Library was very grand. Mr. S.Chidambaram welcomed the gathering. Mr. Durairaj, Rtd. B.D.O., presided over the function and opened the Library. Miss.Maha Devi, Miss. Nandhini, Miss. Deepa and Miss. Jothi sang the prayer song. Mrs. Kalavathi Ayyachamy, in the presence of Mrs. Saraswathi Govindaraj lit the lamp.

            The felicitators of the function were Mr. Rajaram, Rtd. Principal, DIET, Palayampatti, Mr. V.Palani, Chairman, Kariyapatti Municipality, Mr. Gopal, Rtd. Headmaster, Mr. Govindarajan, VRDCC Bank, Mr. Soundarapandian, Rtd. B.D.O., Mr. Muthalagan, Rtd. Teacher, Mr. Pragash, II nd ward Councilor, Kariyapatti, Mr. Haji Thoppu Mohammad, Mr. Andiannan, Rtd. Official VRDCC, Mr. Chandrasekaran, Senior Professor, Mr. Packiaraj, SMP Cables, Mr. V.S. Kannan, Guru lakshmi Printers, Mr. S.K.Rajendran, News Reporter, Dinakaran Newspaper, Mr. Thamilvanan, Industrialist, Mr. Suba Velayudham Rtd. Teacher and Mr. N.M.Muthu, Aruppukkottai. The following were the donors of books to this Library: Mr. V.Ayyachamy, Mr. R.Bhahirathan Rtd., B.D.O., Mr. Alagarsamy, H.I., Mr.Madurai Veeran, Kaluvanacheri, Mr. Thangavel, Mr. S. Chidambaram, Miss. R. Senthamarai, Miss. R.Seethalakshmi, Miss. Deepa, Mr. Gopal, Mr. Gurusamy, Mr. Thangamuthu, Mr. Navaneetha Krishnan, Mr. Gomathi Vinayagam, Mr. Gurusamy, Madurai, Mr. Ganapathi, Mr. A.Sathishbabu and some felicitators mentioned supra. Mr. R.Bharathan proposed the vote of thanks.

            With the shower of their mercy and felicitation this library has been developing in an appreciable manner ushering the learned to refer the great works available here and learners to go through the books, Newspapers, periodicals, and journals being purchased by the Trust. The experts belonging to various fields were invited and honored and consulted to give their valuable suggestions to the improvement of the library. People from all walks of life had been visiting the library daily. This library contained more than 1500 books pertaining to many fields.

 

 
 
 
 

2. CELEBRATING FUNCTIONS:

            The Board Meeting of the Manu Trust was held on 17th November 2002 under the President ship of the Managing Trustee and it decided to celebrate the Birthday of Bharathiyar and the Thai Thirunaal and forms the Readers' circle of the Manu Library. Besides the meeting, made a resolution to utilize the educated persons to conduct these functions. As decided by the Board, the first meeting of the Readers' circle was conducted under the chair person Mr. Veerachamy, Rtd. Teacher on 24th November 2002. In this presidential address, Veerachamy explained about the Historical Perspective of Chandillian.

3. CONDUCTING COMPETITIONS TO THE STUDENTS:

            On December 15, 2002, the great poet Bharathiyar's Birthday was celebrated in a very grand manner. Chidambaram welcomed the audience and Mr. V.Balakrishnan took the chair. Dr.A.Sivakannan M.A., Ph.D.,Rtd. Professor Palaniandavar College, Palani, spoke on the glorious poems of Bharathiyar. On the occasion of this function drawing and recitation competitions were conducted to bring out the creative capacity of the students and to increase the fixation power of them. All the participants in these competitions were awarded prizes. The VIPs from the Vallalar Narpani Manrum, the Mother Computer Academy, the Talent Coaching Center and the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kaluvancheri also actively participated in the function. The Manu Trust honoured the representatives of these organizations. Mr. A.Akkiniraj of Nehru Yuva Kendra proposed the vote of thanks.

            The IInd Reader's circle meeting was held on December 22, 2002. Mr. Muthalagan acted as the chairperson of the meeting. Mr. N.Chockkalingam delivered a spiritual address in the name of "Pandip Pathinangu". Mr. Bhahirathan praised the members of the Reader's circle and the Manu Trust. Mr. Bharathan made the welcome address and Mrs. R.Thilakavathi, an activist of the Women's Self Group, thanked the audience.

            On 16th January 2003, the Thiruvalluvar Day was celebrated under the chairmanship of Mr. V.Palani, Mr. K.Rajarajan, Advocate and the Chairman, Kariyapatti Union, distributed the prizes to the winners of drawing and recitation competitions held at the Bharathiyar Birthday celebration. Mr. Swaminathan, Owner, "National Strength" Monthly, gave a special lecture on "Thamilagam Found by Valluvar" (Thamilagam Kanda Valluvar). Mr. M.Bilavendran M.A., M.Ed, St. Mary Matriculation, Mr. Chidambaram, Mr. Jeyaprahash, Town Welfare Centre, Mr. K.Muniyandi, Mrs. Lakshmi, Mahalir Bharathi Manrum, Mr. M.Thanasekaran, and Mr. A.Akkini veeran felicitated the function. Mr. K.G.Sivakumar did the vote of thanks.

            To remind the General public the services and contribution, rendered by the national leaders, the Manu Trust celebrated the Kamaraj Centenary Day at the Travellers' Bungalow, Kariapatti on 15th August, 2003. The function was started with the prayer song sung by Mrs. Thilagavathi, Mr. A.Subbiah alias Alagiri, I.N.A., Pampatti, took the chair. The felicitation address was done by Mr. A.V.Jeyaprahash, advocate,          Mr. Jeganatha Ayyankar, Kambikkudi, Mr. K.T.N.Raju, landlord, P.Puduppatti, Mr. S.Rajaram and Mr. A.Muthalagan. The artists of Kaluvancheri Youth Centre performed the cultural activities. As an act of the utilization of the learned, the Manu Trust invited Dr.P.Karuppanan M.A., Ph.D., Rtd. Teacher, Mallankinar to deliver a special address on "Kamaraj" and he did his job perfectly. Mr. Chidambaram took stock of the function and Mr. Bharathan gave the vote of thanks. Mr. Bhahirathan gave prizes to the artistes.

4. COURSE ON ETHICS:

            The Trust had been very useful to the learners conducting courses on Ethics during Summer Holidays (1.5.2003 - 30.5.2003). Mr. Chidambaram was the in-charge of these courses. He taught Neethikkovai to the students hailing from educational institutions. All the participants of the courses were presented prizes and awards.

            The Trust had arranging to conduct the Book Review Meeting on every Sunday, to know how much the readers had utilized the library. It was very auspicious to the book lovers to read more books and to the readers who had read books. They brought out their knowledge got from the books read by them. Especially those who had read Siddha Medicinal Works from the Manu Library advised the audience to take Siddha Medicines. Some readers who were Members of this library made spiritual talks.

            Mr. Akkiniveeran spoke on the spiritual thought of Swami Vivekanandha and  Mr. N.Chokkalingam on Periya Puranam at the functions organized by the Readers' circle on 12th and 26th of January, 2003. The common prayer consisting of all religious people had been performing at the Manu Library premises on every Friday evening. The students were trained to learn Needhikkovai by heart.

5. FREE SUPPLY:

            The Trust supplied freely the reading and writing amterial to the students who attend the Needhikkovai classes and the regular classes at schools as well in and around Kariyapatti. The students who approached the Trust for school uniform dresses were freely supplied them. Some students who were found hungry were fed free meals. The Trust printed the Needhikkovai and other moral teachings of great personalities and freely issued them to the participants of the Summer Courses on Ethics and to those who visited the Manu Library. The Trust had appointed one-librarian to issue books and one water carrier to provide drinking water to the library.

            The Trust has developed the Manu Library as much extent as to provide awareness to the visitors in the field of education and human resource development. It has also been endeavoring still to give them more knowledge about awareness with your kind co-operation and liberal donation.
